Casino gaming guide

A licensed Danish land casino is a regulated room, not a hotel amenity like a pool. You typically show photo ID at the door. The age rule is 18. Staff may refuse entry under house rules even if you hold a room key from the hotel upstairs. Currency on the floor is Danish kroner unless the operator states otherwise. We never list live odds, table minimums or jackpot amounts: those figures belong to the house and move.

Spillemyndigheden — the Danish Gambling Authority — currently lists seven land-based casino licences. Five of those addresses share a hotel building or plot, and those five are the overnight products on this desk. The other two, Casino Vesterport in Copenhagen and Royal Casino in Aarhus, are licensed casinos without a hotel pairing, so they sit outside the hotel index.

Classic table games, as operators name them

We quote game names only when a casino’s own site lists them. That is a label, not a promise that every table is open on your night, and not a machine count. Inventories move; the operator’s page the week you travel is the live source.

• Roulette. Casino Copenhagen describes roulette among its table games. Casino Aalborg’s site names American roulette and touchbet roulette. Standard wheel mathematics: a single-zero European wheel has a textbook house edge of about 2.70% on most bets; a double-zero American wheel is higher. French salon rules such as La Partage or En Prison are not claimed here for any Danish house unless that operator publishes them.
• Blackjack. Named on the Casino Copenhagen and Casino Aalborg sites. European shoe dealing (dealer takes the hole card after players complete their hands) is a common table convention in Europe; we do not freeze deck counts or side-bet menus for a Danish floor.
• Poker. Named by Casino Copenhagen and Casino Aalborg. Cash-game formats and tournament calendars belong to the operator. We do not invent a festival stage that the house has not advertised.
• Machines. Slots and electronic terminals are described on several operator pages, including Copenhagen, Marienlyst and Aalborg. We do not reprint jackpot figures or freeze a cabinet count.

Casino Marienlyst describes classic table games and machines on its own pages and traces a 1902 permission for horse-game play — a house history, not a live inventory. Casino Munkebjerg sits inside the forest hotel; the hotel notes 18+ with picture ID and places Jackpot Restaurant in the casino. We do not reprint unpublished table maps.

Admission, ID and dress

Danish land casinos are 18+. A hotel key is not a casino ticket. Expect a physical photo ID at the door — for a Norwegian visitor that is typically a passport. Door staff apply house rules; being a registered hotel guest does not override them.

• Age. 18 throughout the Danish land-casino list. This is not the 21+ threshold used in some German Spielbanken; do not import that rule into Denmark.
• Identity. Valid photo ID. Operators also publish ticket prices and, in some houses, wardrobe fees. We do not reprint those prices here.
• Dress. Casino Odense describes ordinary going-out clothes without sportswear. Other houses leave dress on their guest-info pages. We do not invent a jacket-and-tie salon rule for a Danish hotel casino.

Photography, smoking and phone rules are the operator’s. If the desk will not let you in, that is a house decision, not a Nordisk Inspirasjon decision. We do not admit anyone to a floor.

Hours the operators publish

Opening hours change, and some houses note seasonal exceptions. The lines below are what the operators published when we last read their pages. Confirm them the week you travel.

• Casino Copenhagen (casinocopenhagen.dk): Sunday–Thursday 14:00–04:00; Friday–Saturday 14:00–05:00; live tables listed from 15:00.
• Casino Marienlyst (casinomarienlyst.dk): Sunday–Thursday 19:00–03:00; Friday–Saturday 19:00–04:00.
• Casino Odense (casinoodense.dk): Sunday–Thursday 15:00–03:00; Friday–Saturday 15:00–04:00, with seasonal notes in July.
• Casino Aalborg and Casino Munkebjerg: hours belong on the operator or hotel page the week you go. We do not cache a stale timetable as if it were a promise.

Regulation — and what we will not say about tax

Danish land casinos sit under Spillemyndigheden. The public list of land-based casinos is the authority’s document, not ours. Norway’s gambling market is overseen by Lotteritilsynet under a national monopoly; there is no licensed land casino hotel in Norwegian cities. Crossing the Øresund or Kattegat does not move you into a Norwegian casino product. It moves you into a Danish licence with Danish door rules.

Sweden’s Casino Cosmopol land venues have closed (Gothenburg and Malmö in February 2024; Stockholm in 2025, according to public reporting and Svenska Spel’s wind-down).
